end of my 1st week at asu

August 25th, 2006

WOW. It’s Friday night, and I’m not worrying about tomorrow. That’s what I did every other night this week. :P

But, despite my worrying, things went pretty good.

I’m not so fond of the English class, but I’m hoping th Read the rest of this entry »

posting from school

August 22nd, 2006

I set up my wireless at ASU and am now sitting in the computer commons, about to start doing some real work (for work, fancy that). But first, I had to post this awesome link my mom sent me.

TED Talks is a annual event that brings together different types of people to deliver ideas in areas like technology, design and business, but incorporates people outside that realm, like rockstars. The video mom sent me is of a Swedish professor who explains facts about data in a way that is awesome. And, he uses visual tools to get the points across, so it’s not a million useless numbers on a page, or a pie chart that means nothing. It’s amazing.

And now, I have to get to work and wait for my next class. Watch the video. It’s awesome.

i’m a college student. oh boy.

August 21st, 2006

took me 20 minutes to walk from my uber-secret parking spot to my english class today. of course, i was way early coz i’m so OCD and left work way before i really needed to.
the class was involved mostly with the whole go over the syllabus and teacher introduction thing. i find it quite interesting  the differences between ASU and community college. it’s clear that ASU gets a large amount of young&stupid students, as the class syllabus included the sort of strict, no exceptions bs rules about attendance.

honestly, if you are too stupid to show up to a class that is being paid for by yourself, your parents or the government, then good for me. you lose, and i win. but if i, say, were to dislocate my effing knee again, i don’t want to deal with the additional bs of proving to my teachers that they shouldn’t drop me.

oh well. i guess i’ll just have to suck it up and restrain my argumentative side. it’s not like i’m likely to miss class, is it? tomorrow is biology, and the integrative seminar. i’m excited about those two, but i anticipate it being more introduction & syllabus junk. and i’m sure mid-semester i’ll be wishing for this week of not-learning-anything classes. ;) so i will smile sweetly and enjoy the transition into true college-ie-ness.

website updated

I updated bluntspoon.com

All the data & sites from 1998-2002 have been destroyed and now the site is a whopping five pages. And, I made the design match this lovely wordpress theme. I’m quite fond of that great image I “borrowed” from the internet - the orange being injected with the syringe. It was the only doctor-ie/medical-type thing I could find that would fit so perfectly with the design. Definite points. :D

my first wordpress post. woot.
