end of my 1st week at asu

WOW. It’s Friday night, and I’m not worrying about tomorrow. That’s what I did every other night this week. :P

But, despite my worrying, things went pretty good.

I’m not so fond of the English class, but I’m hoping that it’s faltering pace will improve once the other students start speaking up. Otherwise, it’ll just be me and Nikki arguing.

I loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooove the Biology class. OMG. There is nothing more awesome than that. I was really scared, because it’s been so long since highschool bio, but, despite showing up for the first real lecture 10 minutes late, I understood what the instructor was talking about and felt totally at home. :P Mmmm, cells. They’re so cute. Tiny and tough. I love them.

So, back to being late for lecture. I dropped Travis off at work, stopped at a gas station to put $5 in the car (else I’d not have made it to school) and careened down the freeway at deranged speeds in the hopes that I’d make it to the ASU parking garage and run/walk quickly to class in time. But half way there Travis called to tell me the Circle K had called to tell him my wallet was there. Thank goodness for having that “In Case of Emergency” card in there with his number on it, but oh man, I nearly started crying with the frustration of it all. I turned around and headed back towards PV, and ended up calling little mom to ask her if she’d drive me to school so we could use the HOV lane. She laughed at me, but agreed and so, only ten minutes late to class, not 40-60 minutes.

I also ended up missing (the feeling, rather than the time sense) working at work. The VPN will be set up sometime next week, so I can go back to being productive. I worked about 7.5 of the 10 hours I was there today. My shopping cart is almost done (it’s my very first!)  and on Sunday I’ve gotta get it finished. As well as modifications to the site’s Admin systems. Programming is so damn sexy. I take a bunch of symbols and put them in a pattern and voila! now you have a way to login to a website. Or browse a catalog and add products to a cart. Or make notes about a person. It’s so effing hot.

I pretty much spend all my time not in class at the computer commons, cuddled up with my laptop & wishing beverages were allowed. At least i’m getting work done, in spite of all this time spent down at ASU. :P On some days I half-seriously consider getting a dorm just to have a place to go where laptop+beverage is possible.

So far I’ve only managed to learn a handful of the names of other people in the LC. But the conversations I’ve had with those few have definitely be entertaining and intriguing. I wonder how many people in it are from prep school backgrounds… and how many of them are actually in the honors college.
I picked up my math book this morning. Have to take the Ch 1 test online by midnight tomorrow. Wheeeeeee, algebra. Ah well. I’ll surely wake up at 6am, now that i’m programmed to do so, and can get it done then.
